Seat Alhambra automatic transmission problem
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Seat Alhambra diesel is experiencing starting issues, a check engine light, poor gearbox shifting, and an error related to the parking position. These problems may be linked to the park brake or gear shifter. A faulty control unit is suggested as a possible cause, which governs the automatic transmission. The solution involves having the control unit checked and potentially replaced by a workshop, which confirmed the issue and provided a repair quote.

Control unit, huh? Where is that located, and is it a major job to replace? Also, it doesn't seem to matter if the engine is warm or cold; it's equally as bad.

The control unit governs the automatic transmission; its positioned around the gearbox. It was a pain getting to it on the Scenic. If it's truly faulty, you probably need a new one coded to the car. It's best to get it checked by a workshop. They'll be able to confirm for sure and give you a quote.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was the control unit. The quote is around 1000€ for the repair. Thanks for the heads up; at least I knew what to expect.

Sounds like a dodgy control unit alright. Had similar transmission issues with my old Renault Scenic – kept slipping gears and throwing up errors. Does it happen more when the engine is cold?
