Seat Alhambra belt tensioner issue

Alright, need some help! My 2003 Seat Alhambra (gasoline engine) has a bad belt tensioner I think. The belt-handover thing no longer works. Reckon it's the belt bringer/handover itself that's buggered. Anyone else had this? It's making a racket, and the engine performance seems down too.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Alhambra (don't remember the exact year, sorry). Engine noise was driving me nuts and the belt squeal was embarrassing. Is your belt drive looking okay, though? Maybe check the tensioner pulley itself? Give it a wiggle and see if it's loose or wobbly.

Cheers! When you say 'similar', do you mean the belt handover thingy too? Was it the tensioner pulley in the end?

Yep, the belt handover failing was the main thing. Turns out, the tensioner pulley had packed it in. If you're not confident messing with it yourself, I'd honestly just take it to a workshop. Saves a load of hassle, trust me!

The workshop confirmed it was the belt tensioner. 455€ later and she's purring like a kitten again!
