Seat Alhambra brake light malfunction

My 2013 Seat Alhambra with a diesel engine is throwing a brake light error. The brake lights are not functioning, and the infotainment system displays an error message. VCDS shows a fault related to the brake light switch. I suspect the switch. I'm trying to address this vehicle safety issue myself before resorting to a shop. Any ideas before I start tearing things apart for a switch replacement?

Have you checked the switch itself? Sometimes a visual inspection can reveal if it's damaged or not properly connected. Is the tail light the only light affected?

I did a quick visual inspection, but nothing obvious jumped out. When you say "not properly connected", what exactly should I be looking for?

By "not properly connected" I mean checking for loose wires or a disconnected connector at the switch. Given the error message and the symptoms, it might be best to get it checked out by a professional. The electrical issue could be more complex.

Turns out the issue was self-inflicted. My foot was slightly depressing the brake pedal. Problem solved, no parts or labor needed. Thanks for the input.
