Seat Alhambra check engine light and stalling issue

My 2012 Seat Alhambra with a gasoline engine is acting up. The check engine light keeps appearing, and the engine stalls at idle. It's got 147618 km on the clock. Could it be a fuel tank ventilation system failure? I've heard about a defective activated charcoal filter causing similar problems. Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be related to air flow or the pressure sensor in the fuel tank?

Sounds like a fuel tank ventilation system issue. I had similar symptoms in my Alhambra. Have you checked the activated charcoal filter and the associated pressure sensor?

The activated charcoal filter, you say? Where is that located? Could I check it myself, or should I leave it to a professional? I'm reasonably handy, but I don't want to make things worse.

A defective activated charcoal filter can cause those symptoms. System failure can occur if it's blocked or cracked. While you could try to locate and inspect it, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the filter if needed.

The activated charcoal filter was the culprit, as suspected. The check engine light is gone, and the engine runs smoothly again. The repair cost 275€, but it was worth it.
