Seat Alhambra Diesel Engine Problems

My 2018 Seat Alhambra with a diesel engine is giving me grief. Got about 104204 km on the clock. It's jerking when I accelerate, the check engine light is on, and it feels like I've lost a lot of power. Sometimes it even stalls at idle. Plus, the engine is running rough and there's a strong exhaust smell. I'm thinking it's something with the car manifold, maybe it's leaking due to scorching? Anyone else had this?

I had a similar issue with my Alhambra. The jerking during acceleration and rough engine running are telltale signs. Have you checked for any air intake leaks? A vacuum leak can cause those symptoms. Also, what error codes are you getting?

Air intake leaks, eh? Where exactly should I be looking? And the error memory showed something about 'insufficient air flow'. Does that sound familiar?

Yes, 'insufficient air flow' definitely points towards a vacuum leak in the air intake system. In my case, it was the intake manifold itself. Apparently, they can get scorched and start leaking. I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. They can do a smoke test to pinpoint the exact location of the vacuum leak.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Took it to the workshop and they confirmed it. New car manifold installed. Cost me 1180€. Runs like new again.
