Seat Alhambra Overheating Problem

I am writing to inquire about a potential issue with my Seat Alhambra, built in 2008, with a gasoline engine and approximately 158090 km on the odometer. I have observed that the engine is overheating, particularly during slow driving or when stationary. My initial thought is that the electric fan for the cooling system may be impaired, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be a reasonable diagnosis, and where should I start my investigation?

The overheating issue you are experiencing with your Seat Alhambra may indeed be related to the electric fan. Given the age of the vehicle and the mileage, it is plausible that you have a defective connection. Has the cooling system performance degraded gradually, or did the overheating start suddenly? Have you noticed if the radiator fan is running at all, or if it only operates intermittently? Also, are there any error codes registered in the engine control unit related to the cooling system or the fan circuit?

Thank you for your quick response. The overheating seemed to start quite suddenly. I have not been able to determine any error codes. Is there a specific location on the electric fan or nearby where I should be looking for a loose cable or a corroded plug? I have checked the main fuse box, and the fan fuse is fine.

Given that the overheating started suddenly and the fan fuse is intact, a corroded or loose connector is a likely culprit. Focus your attention on the wiring and connectors directly attached to the electric fan motor and the temperature sensor on the radiator. Examine the connector for signs of corrosion, damage, or loose wiring. It is feasible that the connector to the fan motor or the fan clutch is the cause. Without diagnostic equipment to read error codes or test the fan circuit, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact problem. However, considering the symptoms and your initial assessment, I would recommend having a qualified technician inspect the cooling system. A repair cost of approximately 95€ for a connector replacement is a reasonable estimate, but the actual cost may vary depending on the extent of the damage and labor involved.

Thank you for your detailed explanation and for confirming my suspicion. I took the Alhambra to a local workshop, and it turned out to be a corroded connector on the electric fan. They replaced the connector, and the cooling system is now functioning correctly. The total cost was 95€, as you predicted. I appreciate your help!
