Right, the preheating unit was indeed the culprit. It's a pain. I'm no expert, but if you are sure about the electrical fault, it's probably best to get it checked out at a workshop. They will know how to deal with the car preheater.

Understood. I found corrosion on the cable to the preheating unit. Replacement and diagnostic check cost 95€. I appreciate the input.

Whoa, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Alhambra. The car preheater acted up, the engine light was on, and it was belching smoke like a dragon when I hit the gas. Is your vehicle heater doing the same? Maybe check the electrical fault codes?
