Seat Alhambra Radio Reception Problem

I'm experiencing radio reception issues with my 2006 Seat Alhambra (gasoline engine). The infotainment system displays an error message, and the audio system is non-functional. Error memory also contains relevant entries. Based on my assessment, the antenna is likely defective. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Radio gremlins, eh? I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane – the FM signal would fade in and out like a bad dream. Have you checked the antenna ground? A poor ground can wreak havoc on signal strength. Also, some cars have a signal amplifier – or antenna booster – in the antenna base. That could be the culprit too. It's like a tiny gatekeeper for your FM signal, and if it's faulty, your radio is basically deaf.

Appreciate the insight. Regarding the antenna ground, is there a straightforward way to test it, or is it best left to a professional? Also, where is the signal amplifier typically located in a 2006 Alhambra?

On the Megane, the ground was just corroded where the antenna base met the roof. A bit of sandpaper fixed it. But if you are unsure, it is best to get a professional to test it, especially if the amplifier is involved. Accessing the amplifier usually requires removing interior trim, which can be a pain. Honestly, I ended up just taking the Megane to a workshop. Saved me a lot of headache and potentially breaking something else.

Confirmed fix. The antenna was indeed faulty. I replaced it and the reception is now perfect. Total cost 255€ Thank you for your input.
