Seat Alhambra rough engine behavior

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've got a 2015 Seat Alhambra with a gasoline engine, around 99222 km on the clock. Lately, I've been experiencing some pretty rough engine behavior noticeable knocking, especially when accelerating. There's a definite reduction in engine power, and it's jerking quite a bit. To top it off, I'm seeing some smoke when I accelerate hard. I'm thinking it might be related to deposits in the combustion chamber, maybe pre-ignition issues? Could it be related to cylinder heads or ignition timing? Has anyone experienced something similar with theirs?

I had a similar issue with my Alhambra. Reduced engine power and jerking when accelerating were the main symptoms. Have you checked the fuel octane you are using? Also, are there any error codes stored in the system?

Thanks for the quick reply! I've always used the recommended fuel octane, but I haven't checked for specific error codes myself. Where do I find the error codes, and could lower fuel octane really cause such a significant issue?

Confirming, it sounds very similar to the problem I had. While low fuel octane can contribute, it's more likely combustion chamber deposits, as you suspect. Regarding error codes, a generic OBD2 scanner should be able to read them, but given the severity, I would recommend getting it checked by a workshop. They can perform a more thorough diagnosis and rule out other potential causes.

Took the Alhambra to the shop, and they confirmed it was carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. They cleaned it out, and it's running like new. Cost me 425€, but worth it to have the power back. Thanks again for your help!
