Seat Altea Alarm Siren Communication Error

My 2005 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine is throwing an error related to siren communication. The alarm system is non-functional, and the error memory indicates a fault. The diagnostic points to a defective cable or plug connection. Is this a common issue? The potential repair cost is estimated at 95€.

I experienced something similar with my Altea, though I can't recall the exact error code. The symptoms you describe point towards a potential fault in the alarm controller's communication with the siren. Consider it like a telephone line with a loose connection. Have you checked the wiring harness and plug connections leading to the siren unit? A visual inspection for corrosion or damage might be fruitful.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll check the wiring. When you say similar issue, was it also a faulty wire, or was the alarm controller itself the problem?

In my case, it was indeed a wiring issue, not the alarm controller itself. However, without proper diagnostic equipment, it is difficult to definitively isolate the problem. It might be prudent to consult a qualified technician to avoid unnecessary component replacement.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a wiring issue with the siren. 95€ later, the security breach is closed and the alarm disarms as it should. Thanks for the help!
