Seat Altea Battery Issues
Summary of the thread
The 2009 Seat Altea experienced issues with a heavily discharged battery, weak and flickering lights, and error messages, making engine starting difficult. A defective battery sensor was identified as a potential cause, as it can prevent the charging system from properly regulating the battery's charge. After a workshop examination, the defective battery sensor was confirmed as the issue, leading to its repair.

I have not performed a load test. What other faults would be related? Is a defective battery sensor a common cause for a dead battery in this model?

A defective battery sensor can cause these issues, especially a charging problem. It prevents the charging system from properly regulating the battery's charge. Given the symptoms and error codes, it is plausible. I advise having a workshop examine it.

The workshop confirmed the battery sensor was defective. The battery wasn't charging correctly, as you suspected. Repair cost was 315€.

A heavily discharged battery on a 2009 Seat Altea could come from several sources. The error message and flickering lights point to power issues. Has the battery been load tested? Is the error memory showing any other related faults besides the battery?
