The brake pedal switch, eh? Where exactly is that thing located, and how hard is switch replacement? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but I'm no mechanic, you know?

Yep, almost certainly the brake light switch. It's located right at the top of the brake pedal assembly. While it might be tempting to DIY, I would suggest taking it to a workshop. I thought I could handle it myself once, but ended up creating more problems. It is a cheap fix, so maybe better to get it done by someone who knows exactly what they are doing.

Dude, you were spot on! Turns out the brake light switch replacement was all it needed. I couldn't believe it – a simple fix for a weird problem. I just did it myself, took me 10 minutes and it cost me absolutely nothing! Everything works perfectly now and no more annoying error message. Thanks a bunch for the advice, I was losing my mind trying to figure out what was wrong with my cars!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar brake light failure issue with my Seat Leon. I'd check the brake pedal switch, it's a common culprit for automotive switch problems like this.
