Seat Altea check engine light NOx error

My 2014 Seat Altea, gasoline engine, has a check engine light. Error memory indicates NOx storage catalyst aging. I suspect an exhaust system leak. Can this be related?

I had a similar issue with my Altea and the check engine light. Exhaust system problems can definitely mess with your emissions system and air quality. Is there any chance you could hear the leak before? How bad is it?

Did your issue also trigger a NOx storage catalyst aging error? I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with just patching the exhaust or if the catalyst is genuinely failing because of the leak.

Yes, the NOx error was present. The leak was upstream, causing the sensor to read incorrectly, triggering the error. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop and getting the exhaust properly inspected and repaired. They will know if the emissions system requires automotive repair.

The exhaust system leak caused the problem. NOx storage catalyst aging confirmed. Repair cost 265€.
