Seat Altea climate control issues

I'm at my wit's end with my 2015 Seat Altea (gasoline engine). The automatic temperature control has stopped working completely. Basically, the air conditioning refuses to switch on. Plugged it into a diagnostic tool and it's throwing up an error related to the interior temperature sensor. From what I've read, it could be a faulty cable or plug connection. Anyone else had this? It's driving me nuts!

Sounds like a familiar headache! I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon. The automatic temperature control went haywire. The temperature reading seemed totally off, like it was trying to cool the car to the arctic in the middle of summer. Have you checked the sensor connections? Sometimes it's just a loose plug.

Interesting! When you say 'similar issue', did you also have a specific error code stored? And did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a workshop?

Yes, I had an error code too – something about implausible temperature reading. I fiddled with the connections, cleaned them, but no luck. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the temperature sensor itself. Think of it like a dodgy thermostat in your house; if it's not reading the temperature correctly, the whole system goes haywire. If you have checked all the connections, you might want to get it checked at a shop.

Took it to a shop as you suggested. It was indeed the temperature sensor and a dodgy connection, just like we thought! 95€ later and the climate control is back to its old self. Thanks a million for your help!
