Seat Altea clutch pedal switch issue

Thanks for the quick response! I probed the plug and cable, everything looked fine there. But I haven't actually tested the switch itself with a multimeter. Where exactly is the clutch switch located, and what values should I be looking for?

Yeah, sounds like the switch itself then. Accessing it is a bit of a pain, it is located up near the clutch pedal hinge. Honestly, if you're not comfortable contorting yourself under the dash, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. I tried messing with it myself for an afternoon, but ended up throwing in the towel and letting the pros handle it. Saved myself a lot of grief in the end. Given your symptoms and checks, it probably is the switch. It's a cheap part, but can cause a lot of headaches.

Alright, thanks for the heads-up! I bit the bullet and had the clutch pedal switch replaced. Parts and labor came out to 95€. Everything's working perfectly now – car starting, cruise control back, and the gear selector display is showing gears again. Turns out the cable was indeed defective. Appreciate your help!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon, same symptoms – cruise control dead, that gear selector thing going haywire, and the car sometimes refusing to start. Although, I am not sure what engine it was. Have you checked the clutch switch itself, or just the plug? Because in my case, the switch was completely shot. The mechanic said it was a common problem. Did you check the switch with a multimeter?
