Seat Altea diesel overheating issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Seat Altea with a diesel engine was experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be related to the electric fan not functioning properly. The problem was identified as a faulty connection to the electric fan's motor, specifically a loose and corroded plug connection. The suggested solution was to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a professional, which successfully resolved the overheating issue after cleaning and reconnecting the fan's wiring.

Really? That's interesting. I've checked the fuses, but I didn't think to look closely at the fan's wiring. Was it obvious when you found the fault, or did you need special tools to diagnose it? Was the temperature control affected too?

The temperature control was fluctuating more than usual. It wasn't immediately obvious, but upon closer inspection, the plug connection to the electric fan was loose and corroded. I do not recommend attempting a repair yourself without proper knowledge. I recommend that you take your vehicle to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair.

Just wanted to say I took it to the workshop and you were spot on. It was a dodgy connection to the electric fan, like you said. They cleaned it up and reconnected everything, and now the cooling system works properly and the vehicle overheating is resolved. Cost me 95€, but it's a relief to have it sorted. Thanks again for your help.

I had a similar vehicle overheating problem with my Seat Altea. The cooling system was not performing optimally. It turned out to be a faulty connection to the electric fan's electric motor. Could you check the cable and plug connection to the fan?
