Seat Altea Diesel Particulate Filter Issue

I'm seeking help with my 2014 Seat Altea diesel. At 73941 km, it shows signs of a bad diesel particulate filter. There's less engine power and smoke from the exhaust when I speed up. I think it's a Diesel Particulate Filter problem. Could this be from a filter replacement issue? The engine light is on, which makes me think this is right.

Reduced engine power and smoke? Sounds like what happened with my Altea. Check the engine light; is it on? It could very well be the DPF needing attention.

Thank you for the quick response. When you had this issue, did the engine light come on right away, or did it take a while after the first signs? Also, did you notice any other changes in how the car ran besides the reduced power and smoke?

The engine light came on fast for me, like a clogged artery needs fast help. Other changes? Worse fuel efficiency before I fixed it. If the engine light is on and you see those signs, a workshop visit is smart.

I appreciate the advice. After an inspection confirmed the particulate filter was defective, a diesel filter replacement was done. The repair cost 1550€. I hope my fuel efficiency returns to normal now.
