The park brake does feel a bit weird sometimes, almost like it's not fully engaging. What exactly was up with yours? Was it a total transmission failure, or just some weird shifting issues? Any details would be awesome!

Yeah, the park brake issue was a big clue for me. The shift lock was also playing up, making it a pain to get it out of Park. It did end up being the mechatronic unit in the transmission. Honestly, save yourself the hassle and take it to a decent workshop. They'll be able to confirm for sure, but it sounds very similar to what I went through.

So, yeah, it was the mechatronic unit, just like we suspected. A hefty 1000€ later and she's shifting smoother than ever. Thanks a bunch for the heads up! Saved me a ton of diagnostic headaches.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Altea a while back. Same symptoms, engine light and all. Did you notice any issues with the park brake or shift lock? Mine was acting all kinds of funky before the transmission went full potato.
