Seat Altea Loud Exhaust Noise

I need some help with my Seat Altea, 2011 model, gasoline engine. I've got an error stored, and the exhaust noise is way louder than usual. The engine sounds really noisy after a cold start too. I suspect it's the exhaust flaps not working properly, maybe an exhaust blockage somewhere. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas on what to check for exhaust repair?

That sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Altea. Louder exhaust noise, especially on cold starts. Have you checked the flap actuator?

The flap actuator? Where exactly is that located, and how would I check it? Is it something I can do myself, or does it require special tools? I'm not too familiar with the exhaust system.

It's a common problem. I didn't mess with it myself; took it straight to the workshop. They confirmed it was the flap actuator and replaced it. Problem solved! I wouldn't recommend trying to fix the exhaust flaps yourself unless you know what you're doing.

Issue resolved! It was indeed the exhaust flap actuator, as suspected. The repair cost 190€, but the Altea sounds much better now. Thanks for the assistance!
