Seat Altea mirror heating failure

My 2014 Seat Altea diesel's mirror heating has stopped working. Both mirrors are affected. I've scanned the car and it's throwing an error related to the mirror heating circuit. Given the error and that both are out, I suspect it's more likely a wiring or connector issue than both heater element failing simultaneously. Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

Mirror heating problems on Alteas are fairly common, especially with that mileage. First thing I'd check is the wiring harness where it enters the door. They can get chafed or the connectors can corrode, causing an electrical fault. Also, have you checked the relevant fuses? Sometimes it's the simplest things...

Thanks for the tips. Where exactly should I be looking for this wiring harness? Is it something I can easily access myself, or will I need to remove the door panel?

Yes, it's likely a corroded connector if the error code points to an electrical fault. Trying to fix car electronics yourself can be risky. Given the predicted repair cost of 95€, it's probably best to get a professional to check. They'll have the right tools and know-how to diagnose and fix it properly.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was a corroded plug on the driver's side mirror. 95€ later, and the mirrors are toasty again. Thanks for the help!
