Seat Altea Oil Pressure Light Issue

I have a Seat Altea, built in 2005, diesel engine, with 171993 km on the clock. Recently, a warning light appeared in the speedometer. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up. Could this be engine damage? I checked the engine oil level, and it seems okay. Any ideas?

I also own a Seat Altea with a diesel engine. A similar problem happened to me last year when the oil pressure warning lamp lit up. In my case, the engine oil was contaminated. I advise you to check the engine oil level and its condition. Have you used any oil additives recently?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't used any oil additives. What was the cause of the contamination in your case?

In my case, the contamination was caused by exceeding the maintenance interval. I strongly suggest an immediate oil change. Continuing to drive with contaminated oil can lead to significant engine damage. To be sure, it is best to visit a workshop.

Okay, thanks for the advice. The maintenance interval had been exceeded. I had the oil change done, it cost 165€. Warning light is now gone.
