I haven't checked the resistance yet, I'll add it to my to do list. Where was the sensor located on your Megane? I'm trying to locate it on my Altea to check the cable and plug connections.

Mine was a pain to get to, near the oil filter housing. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of wiring, it's probably best to get a proper car diagnostics run at a workshop. Could be more than just the sensor, playing it safe is key.

Took the Altea to the shop. Diagnostics confirmed it was the engine oil temperature sensor. They replaced the sensor and fixed the wiring. Cost me 95€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Renault Megane – oil pressure light acting up, plus a warning on the dash. For me, it also turned out to be a faulty sensor. Did you check the resistance of the temp sensor?
