Seat Altea Outside Temperature Sensor Issue

I'm at my wit's end. My 2015 Seat Altea, diesel engine, with 108621 km on the clock, has a persistent outside temperature sensor fault. The error is stored, the air conditioning refuses to engage, the spray nozzles freeze prematurely, and the mirror heating is non-functional. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered this and found a reliable fix?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Seat Altea had a persistent outside temperature sensor fault, causing the air conditioning, spray nozzles, and mirror heating to malfunction. The suspected causes included a defective cable or plug connection. The issue was confirmed as a defective outside temperature sensor, which was replaced and calibrated, resolving the problem.

Sounds frustrating! So, the air conditioning isn't working at all, even on a hot day? And the mirror heating is completely dead? I'm just trying to understand the full extent of the problem. Could be a fuse, but the sensor thing sounds more likely. I'm not super technical, but could a simple OBD2 scanner read the error code or do any sensor diagnostics?

When you mention 'OBD2 scanner', are you referring to a standard diagnostic tool for reading error codes related to temperature monitoring, or something more specific for sensor diagnostics? I'm familiar with basic diagnostics, but not necessarily with advanced sensor calibration procedures.

Yeah, a standard OBD2 scanner should be able to read the error code related to the car temperature sensor. If it confirms the outside temperature sensor fault, then yeah, it probably needs replacing. Given all those things are affected, it does sound like the sensor itself or the wiring to it. Honestly, it sounds like it's time for a workshop. At least they can pinpoint the exact cause.

Fault confirmed as a defective outside temperature sensor. Replaced it, including sensor calibration, at a cost of 95€. All systems now functioning correctly. Thanks for the input!
