Seat Altea starting issue

I am writing to inquire about a problem I am experiencing with my 2012 Seat Altea, which has a gasoline engine. The vehicle has recently begun to start poorly. Upon investigation, I discovered that Terminal 30, the continuous plus, is being interrupted. I suspect this may be due to a heavily discharged or defective battery. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? I am concerned it might be an issue with the Ignition Switch or a Short Circuit somewhere in the system.

That sounds frustrating. I had a somewhat similar issue with my Altea, although the symptoms were a bit different. I would check the Starter Motor and the Circuit Breaker first. Has the car been throwing any error codes? Also, how old is your battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird Electrical Faults.

Thank you for your reply. I have not checked the Starter Motor or Circuit Breaker yet. Where are they located, and is there a way to test them myself, or do I need specific equipment? I did check the battery voltage, and it seemed low, but I thought it might be due to the poor starting.

While you can test some things yourself, electrical issues can be tricky. Given the interrupted power and potential Short Circuit, I would recommend taking it to a qualified mechanic. It could save you a lot of time and potential further damage. In my case, it ended up being a combination of a failing battery and a corroded connection. It's best to have it properly diagnosed to avoid replacing parts unnecessarily.

Thank you for your advice. It seems the battery was indeed the primary issue, but there was also a minor short circuit somewhere in the system. After replacing the battery and addressing the electrical fault, the car now starts without problems. The total cost was approximately 290€.
