Seat Altea Tailgate Problem

My 2010 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine has a problem. It has about 181359 km on it. The automatic tailgate doesn't open all the way. It goes up a little, then stops. I scanned it and got a 'tailgate hall sensor fault' message. I think it's a bad cable or plug. Has anyone else seen this?

That sounds annoying! It's like when a wire in your headphones breaks and you lose sound in one ear. It could be easy, but also hard to find. Did you check the fuses or the wiring harness where it goes into the tailgate for damage?

Thanks! The fuses are okay. I looked at the wiring harness quickly, but didn't see any breaks. Is there a part of the sensor wiring that breaks more often?

If the fuses are good and you checked the wiring, and you're still getting the hall sensor fault, the sensor wiring is probably the problem, especially with that mileage. I suggest taking it to a shop to check the sensor wiring and the tailgate motor. That way, you'll know for sure.

Just to let you know, it was the hall sensor wiring, like we thought. The local shop fixed it for 95€. The tailgate works great now. Thanks for the assistance!
