Seat Arona Diesel Oil Pressure Issue

My 2018 Seat Arona diesel has started playing up. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and I'm getting some worrying mechanical noises from the engine. It has done 193737 km. I'm worried it might be something major, like oil pump failure. Could it also be the oil pressure sensor maybe? Has anyone had similar issues? Engine bearings maybe?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Seat Arona diesel with 193737 km is experiencing an oil pressure warning light and mechanical noises, raising concerns about potential oil pump failure. Possible causes include a faulty oil pressure sensor or engine bearings, but the symptoms align with oil pump issues. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the oil pump was the problem, and the repair resolved the issue.

Low oil pressure on these can be a pain. I had something similar happen on my Arona, though the mileage was lower. Did you check the oil level? Sometimes that's the obvious thing. Also, has the oil viscosity been checked recently? Wrong oil could cause issues. I'm just wondering if it could be something simple before you think it's the oil pump.

Yeah, I checked the oil level, it's fine. The oil was changed about 10000 km ago, but I am not sure about the viscosity. How did you figure out that it was the oil pump in your case? What were the symptoms?

My Arona had similar symptoms, loud noises and the warning light. Eventually, the workshop confirmed it was the oil pump. Before that, I was just going off what I read online and my oil pressure gauge was going crazy too. Given your mileage and the noises, it's probably best to get it checked by a professional. Don't want to risk further engine damage.

Took it to a workshop, and you were right. They said it was the oil pump. Cost 755€ to fix, but it's running smoothly now. Thanks for the advice!
