Seat Arona EGR Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Seat Arona diesel model with 115,690 km is experiencing reduced engine power, a check engine light, smoke during acceleration, rough running, increased fuel consumption, jerking, and a loud hissing noise. These symptoms suggest a defective or jammed EGR valve, which affects vehicle emissions. The issue was confirmed by a repair shop, and replacing the EGR valve resolved the problems, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Rough idle sometimes, yes. How did you diagnose the EGR valve? Did you try cleaning it first, or just replace it?

I didn't bother cleaning it. The Arona is getting old, and I figured a replacement was the better long-term fix. The symptoms sound exactly like a worn EGR. Get it checked; a faulty EGR valve can cause more problems. Automotive repair is definitely needed.

You were right. The shop confirmed it was the EGR valve. Replacement cost 355€. It runs great now, no more rough idle or smoke. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a bad EGR valve. I had similar symptoms on my Seat Arona, reduced power, check engine light, even some smoke when accelerating. It was a pain. Does it also have a rough idle? Could be a vacuum leak too, messing with the recirculation.
