Seat Arona Electronic Parking Brake Problem

I have encountered a problem with my 2023 Seat Arona, gasoline engine, with 123291 km on the clock. The electronic parking brake is not functioning. There is a warning light illuminated on the speedometer, and an error is stored in the error memory. I suspect the electric motor in the brake caliper is defective and it will be a 505€ repair, but I'd like to get some opinions before proceeding. I'm concerned about potential brake failure and want to ensure a thorough brake diagnostics is performed. Has anyone else experienced this brake fault?

Sounds like a dodgy EPB module. I had similar grief with my Arona. The symptoms you describe mirror what I experienced. First thing I'd check is whether you've scanned the car for fault codes using VCDS or similar. Have you had any issues with the ABS module?

Thanks for your input. I did get an error code related to the parking brake. You mentioned the ABS module; could that really be linked to the parking brake fault?

Yes, the ABS module can definitely throw a wrench into the EPB system. It uses the ABS sensors for feedback. If the scan tool pinpointed a caliper motor issue though, that's the more probable culprit. Get it checked by someone who knows their stuff.

Many thanks for the insight. I followed your advice and took it to a professional. As suspected, the electric motor in the brake caliper was indeed faulty. The repair cost came to 505€, just as anticipated. Problem solved.
