The error code refers to the exhaust flap actuator, but I am unsure how to further diagnose if it is the actuator, the flap motor, or the exhaust valves themselves. Is there a way to test the actuator, or should I just take it to a workshop?

Given the error code and symptoms, it's highly likely the flap actuator is the culprit. Without specialized tools or knowledge, testing the actuator can be difficult. Considering the potential for further damage, I'd recommend consulting a workshop for professional exhaust repair.

Thank you for your input. I followed your advice and took it to a trusted workshop. As suspected, the exhaust flap actuator was indeed defective. The exhaust repair cost me 190€, including the part and labor. Now the error is gone, the exhaust system is quiet again, and the noisy engine running after a cold start is gone. I appreciate your help!

Louder exhaust noise and a stored error certainly point towards an exhaust flap issue. Does the error code specify which flap or the flap actuator itself? Does it happen frequently?
