Seat Arona Hissing Sound and Fuel Consumption

My Seat Arona, build year 2017 with a gasoline engine, has started acting up. The check engine light is on, and I'm getting a noticeable hissing sound when I accelerate. Fuel consumption has also gone up. I suspect it might be an air intake leak, possibly a cracked hose. Could this also cause the engine to misfire I've had a poke around, but nothing obvious is jumping out at me. Any ideas before I take it to a workshop

Sounds like you've got an air intake leak That hissing sound is a giveaway. I had a similar issue with my old Vauxhall Corsa. The check engine light was on, and it felt like the car was struggling to breathe. Have you tried looking for any obvious cracks or splits in the intake hoses

Yeah, I visually inspected the hoses, but couldn't spot anything obvious. Is there a specific area I should be focusing on I've heard some people mention using a smoke machine for leak detection, but I don't have access to one.

Definitely focus on the intake hoses, especially around the joints and bends. Think of it like a balloon – it's weakest where it's stretched or folded. A smoke test is the best way to pinpoint it, but if you can't do that, just get it to a mechanic. They'll sort it out quickly.

You were spot on A trusted workshop confirmed a cracked air intake hose. A new hose was fitted, the check engine light is gone, and the hissing sound has disappeared. Fuel consumption seems normal again. The total cost was around 100€ Thanks a lot for your help
