Seat Arona Intake Air Temperature Sensor Problem

Okay, I'm officially pulling my hair out! My 2020 Seat Arona with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. Check engine light is on, and the error memory points to a faulty intake air temperature sensor. I've noticed reduced engine power, and the engine's running rough. Mileage is sitting at 129613 km. I suspect the intake air temperature sensor is defective. Anyone else had this issue? Any tips before I bite the bullet and take it to the shop?

That sounds frustrating! The check engine light is never a welcome sight. When you say "rough running", could you describe it a bit more? Is it idling roughly, or is it more noticeable when you're accelerating? Also, have you checked the wiring to the air sensor itself? Sometimes a loose or damaged wire can cause weird temperature reading issues.

Thanks for the quick response! When I say rough running, I mean it's mostly at idle. It kind of stutters and shakes a bit. Acceleration feels a bit sluggish too, like it's not getting the power it should. As for the wiring, I had a quick look, but I'm no expert. Where exactly should I be looking for damage?

Okay, rough idle and sluggish acceleration definitely point towards the intake air temperature sensor messing things up. It tells the engine computer (ECU) the temperature of the air entering the engine. This is needed to calculate how much fuel to inject. If it's giving a wrong temperature reading, the engine won't run efficiently. And, no worries, tracing wires can be tricky! Given all the symptoms, it really does sound like a defective air sensor. Probably best to take it to a workshop and have them confirm with car diagnostics before replacing the sensor.

Alright, just wanted to let you know. Took the Arona to the local mechanic, and you were spot on! Faulty intake air temperature sensor. They replaced the car sensor, did some car diagnostics, cleared the error memory, and now she's running smooth again. Cost me about 155€ all in. Thanks a million for your help!
