Seat Arona tire pressure warning and steering issues

I am experiencing a rather concerning issue with my Seat Arona, 2018 build year, diesel engine. The tire pressure low warning light is illuminated. This is accompanied by the ABS lamp lighting up, a vibrating steering wheel, and increased effort required when steering, almost as if the power steering has failed. I have checked for any visible damage to the tires and haven't found anything obvious.

Summary of the thread

The Seat Arona is experiencing issues with a tire pressure warning light, ABS lamp activation, a vibrating steering wheel, and increased steering effort, suggesting a potential power steering failure. The initial check revealed low tire pressure, which was corrected, but the warning light reappeared, indicating a possible faulty tire sensor or valve issue. A workshop inspection confirmed a defective valve, leading to tire replacement and sensor reset, resolving the problem.

Sounds like a flat tire to me. I had similar symptoms on my Arona. First thing is to check your tire pressure with a tire gauge. Have you checked if the tire pressure is actually low? It could also be a faulty tire sensor.

Yes, I checked the tire pressure. It was indeed low. I inflated tires to the recommended pressure, but the warning light came back on after a short drive. Is it possible the tire sensor is faulty even if the tire pressure was actually low?

Yes, it's quite possible. A puncture can damage the tire sensor, or the valve itself might be defective, leading to slow deflation. Since you inflated tires and the warning returned, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to have the tire and the tire sensor properly inspected.

I appreciate the confirmation. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective valve in the tire. The tire was replaced and the tire pressure sensor was reset. Repair cost was 280€. Everything seems to be working fine now.
