Seat Arosa Diesel Engine Issues

I am experiencing some issues with my Seat Arosa, build year 2000, diesel engine, mileage 178838 km. The check engine light is on, and the engine power is noticeably reduced. Engine response is very poor, and the engine stalls at idle. Fuel consumption has also increased. Could this be related to a defective electrical bypass valve?

Sounds like a boost control issue. I had something similar with my Arosa. Check the turbo system, especially the actuator valve and pressure sensor. Is there a whistling noise?

Yes, there is a whistling noise, also a loud hissing when accelerating. Where exactly is the actuator valve located and how can I check it?

The actuator valve is part of the turbo wastegate system. Given the symptoms, especially the whistling and hissing, and that I had the same, it's very likely your electrical bypass valve is defective. I'd suggest going to a workshop for a diagnosis. They can check the boost pressure and confirm.

Thank you for your help! Turns out it was indeed the electrical bypass valve. Got it replaced for 250€. Runs like new now!
