Air intake and control valve seem okay on initial inspection. Where exactly was the issue on your Arosa? Was it a specific part of the throttle body?

Yes, the symptoms you describe match what I experienced. I took it to a workshop, and they identified the accelerator pedal module as the culprit affecting the engine throttle. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked professionally.

Cheers for the advice. Turns out it was the accelerator pedal module causing the engine throttle to act up. New one fitted, cost 205€, and she's running sweet again. Fuel consumption is back to normal, and starts first time now.

That sounds awfully similar to a problem I had with my Arosa. Higher fuel consumption was the first thing I noticed, followed by some trouble getting it started. Did you notice any issues with the air intake or the control valve? It might be worth checking the throttle body and throttle position sensor too. Has the engine throttle been inspected?
