Seat Arosa Diesel Overheating and Communication Error
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Seat Arosa with a diesel engine is experiencing overheating, a check engine light, and coolant leakage, indicating excessive pressure in the cooling system. A diagnostic tool reveals a control unit communication error, which the manual suggests could be due to a defective cable or plug connection. The problem was resolved by a workshop that identified and replaced a defective plug connection, resolving the issue.

Coolant level is fine, hoses seem ok too. You also had the check engine light? Was it definitely the same communication fault? What did you do to fix it? Any idea what sort of wiring issue it was?

Yep, check engine light was on. I'm no expert, but it sounds like exactly the same thing. I tried fiddling with some of the wiring, but honestly, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Saved me a load of hassle. If it's definitely a communication fault, I wouldn't mess around too much.

It was indeed a wiring issue, as suspected. A workshop did some diagnostics, found a defective plug connection, and replaced it. The whole thing cost 95€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my Arosa, engine overheating and coolant loss. Have you checked the basics like coolant level and radiator hoses? Could be a software glitch, but communication fault does sound like it could be a connectivity issue.
