Seat Arosa engine light and idling issue

My 2004 Seat Arosa with a gasoline engine has the check engine light on. I've also seen higher fuel consumption and rough idling. It's done 155885 km. I suspect a faulty knock sensor.

Illuminated check engine light, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idling can point to a bad knock sensor. Have you looked at the cable and plug connection for any corrosion or damage?

How do I properly check the cable and plug connection? What should I be looking for?

A bad knock sensor can cause the malfunction indicator to light up. With those symptoms, a damaged cable or plug connection is likely. If you don't see anything wrong, I'd suggest a workshop visit.

It was the knock sensor. The repair set me back 95€. Thanks for the help.
