Seat Arosa Exhaust Flap Issue

My 2001 Seat Arosa with a gasoline engine is throwing up an error related to the exhaust flaps. Symptoms are louder exhaust noise than normal and a noisy engine after starting up. I'm suspecting a defective exhaust flap. Has anyone else had this? Is it likely to be exhaust components or could an exhaust blockage cause the same symptoms? Or even something with the flap motor?

I had something similar with my Arosa, though I can't remember the exact error code. Was your exhaust noise significantly louder than usual? I definitely noticed a change in the engine sound, especially on cold starts.

Yeah, the exhaust noise is definitely louder than usual. And the engine sounds a bit rougher after a cold start. How did you fix it? Was it a big job?

Sounds very similar to what I experienced. In my case, the flap itself was faulty. I tried checking the connections and all that, but no luck. Honestly, I ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed it and replaced the exhaust components. Is it worth the hassle of doing it yourself? Probably best to get it checked properly, I think.

Took the Arosa to a local garage, and as suspected, the exhaust flap was indeed defective. They replaced it, and the error's gone, exhaust noise is back to normal. Cost me 190€ all in. Thanks for the help!
