Ambient noise, you say? Well, I wouldn't say constant, but definitely noticeable, especially at higher speeds. How did that relate to your microphone issue?

Yeah, the ambient noise made the speech recognition go bonkers. It might not be exactly the same, but I ended up taking it to the workshop. They fiddled around but eventually said the whole unit was fried. Unfortunately I could not fix it with microphone repair.

Right, the Arosa is now back. It was indeed the infotainment system. Had to get it replaced, and the whole thing set me back 815€. Telephony works again. Thanks for your input!

Dude, I feel your pain! Had something similar happen in my old Renault Clio. The hands-free was driving me nuts! Volume control was all over the place, and the voice recognition was completely useless. Is there a constant ambient noise in your car?
