Seat Arosa Keyless Entry Problem

My 2000 Seat Arosa with the gasoline engine is giving me grief. Mileage is at 154490 km. The keyless entry has stopped working. VCDS is showing an error related to the door handle. From what I gather, it's likely a faulty cable or connection in the door handle. Has anyone run into this? I'm thinking it's the door switch causing the locking system issues, but I'm not 100% sure where to start.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The door switch acted up, causing the whole locking system to go haywire. Have you checked the wiring loom where it passes from the body to the door? That's a common failure point.

The wiring loom, you say? Is it easy to get to? I've had the door card off before, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for exactly. Any tips on spotting the problem?

Yeah, on the Astra it was a real pain. The insulation had cracked from constantly being flexed, causing a short. If you're not comfortable testing the wires themselves, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of hassle chasing a sensor issue that ends up being something simple.

Took it to the shop, and they confirmed a dodgy connector in the door handle circuit, as suspected. 95€ later, the keyless entry is working again. Thanks for the help!
