Seat Arosa rear window heating problem

My 2003 Seat Arosa with a diesel engine has a rear window heating issue. The window heater doesn't work, and there's an error stored. Also noticed the windshield heating isn't performing as usual. Any ideas?

Sounds like a battery issue. I had something similar with my Arosa. The auto defrost stopped working and threw an error. Have you checked the battery's voltage?

Voltage seems okay at first glance, but how did you know it was the battery? Was the windshield heating also affected? The error memory also has some weird stuff related to other consumers.

Yep, windshield heating was also weak. The heavily discharged battery was causing all sorts of electrical gremlins. If the battery is old or you're not sure about its condition, get it checked by a pro. Could save you a lot of headaches.

Took it to the workshop. The battery was dead, just like you thought. A new battery cost 290€, but the rear window heater is working now. Thanks for the help.
