Seat Arosa steering issue

My 2002 Seat Arosa with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. Mileage is at 171632 km. The steering wheel is vibrating and the handling feels spongy. I've got an error stored in the memory and it sometimes feels like the power steering has completely failed. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be related to the steering rack or steering column at all? Is a wheel alignment needed?

Whoa, vibrating steering wheel and spongy handling? Sounds like a real headache! Have you checked the power steering fluid level? Is it topped up? Maybe there's air in the steering system?

Fluid level is fine. You mentioned air in the steering system, how would I bleed that?

Bleeding air from the steering system can be tricky without the right tools. Given the error code and the symptoms you're describing, especially the potential connection issue, it might be best to have a workshop take a look. Could prevent further damage to the steering system.

It was a faulty connection to the power steering. The fix cost 95€.
