Seat Ateca Automatic Transmission Problem

I've got a bit of a situation with my 2018 Seat Ateca, gasoline engine. The automatic transmission seems to have developed a parking position defect. Basically, the engine won't start, the check engine light is on, and the gearbox feels like it's slipping or shifting uncleanly. I pulled the error codes, and it points to a defective control unit. I suspect it is related to the park brake. Quoted around 1000€ for repair. Anyone else experienced anything similar with transmission issues or getting stuck in neutral position?

I had something similar happen with my Seat Ateca a while back. It might be related to the shift lock mechanism. Does it happen intermittently, or is it a constant problem?

Shift lock mechanism, eh? What exactly is that, and how did you fix it? Was it also a transmission failure?

The shift lock is a safety feature that prevents you from shifting out of Park unless you press the brake pedal. If it malfunctions, it can cause the issues you're describing, like the inability to start the engine. In my case, it eventually led to more serious transmission issues. I recommend getting it checked by a workshop.

Took the Ateca to the workshop, and it was indeed the control unit. New one installed, cost me about 1000€. Thanks for the input.
