Seat Ateca Diesel Engine Stalling and Faulty Rail Pressure Sensor

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've got a 2022 Seat Ateca with a diesel engine and about 180466 km on the clock. Lately, the check engine light has been coming on, and the engine occasionally stalls when idling. I've also noticed a drop in engine performance. My scanner is showing a 'rail pressure sensor signal faulty' error. Could this be a defective fuel pressure sensor? Anyone experienced similar fuel pressure issues?

Faulty rail pressure sensor signal on a 2022 Ateca diesel with those symptoms points strongly to a sensor issue. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connector for any signs of damage or corrosion? Also, can you retrieve the specific fault code using an OBD2 scanner?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did a quick visual check of the wiring, but didn't see anything obvious. I do have an OBD2 scanner. Is the fault code enough to confirm the sensor is bad, or are there other things it could be?

The fault code strongly suggests a sensor issue, especially given the symptoms you're describing. While other issues could potentially cause similar symptoms, a faulty sensor is the most probable cause. Considering the potential impact on engine performance, I would recommend having a workshop confirm the diagnosis and replace the sensor. Ignoring it could lead to further problems with the diesel engine fuel system.

Just wanted to let you know, I took the Ateca to a mechanic, and you were spot on. The fuel pressure sensor was faulty. They replaced it, and the total cost was 240€. Thanks for your help!
