Seat Ateca Diesel Low Car Heating Output

Hi, I've been having issues with my 2017 Seat Ateca diesel. The car heating output is way too low, it barely gets warm inside. I ran a scan, and it shows an error related to a defective water valve. I'm thinking it might be a bad connection on the automotive valve, maybe a cable or plug issue? Has anyone seen this before? I am not sure how to check valve blockage.

Hey, thanks for posting! I had a similar heating problem with my old Renault Megane, though it's a petrol engine. My car heating was barely working, and it turned out to be a valve blockage somewhere in the engine coolant system. Is your engine coolant level okay? Maybe there is a coolant leak that is messing with the car heating.

Thanks for the quick reply! I checked the engine coolant level, and it seems fine, no coolant leak that I can see. Where exactly was the valve blockage in your Megane? Was it easy to spot?

Yeah, my mechanic found it. Honestly, I couldn't tell you exactly where it was – something to do with the heater core. It wasn't easy to spot, and I wouldn't recommend messing with it yourself unless you really know what you're doing. You could end up causing a coolant leak or something worse. Honestly, if you have an error code pointing to the water valve, and you're already seeing heating issues, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and tell you if it's just a bad connection or if the valve itself needs replacing.

Okay, thanks. I took it to the shop and it was the water valve, like the error code said. They replaced it, and the car heating is working again. Total cost was 95€, which isn't too bad. Apparently the cable or plug connection was defective, as suspected. Glad that's sorted.
