Seat Ateca Electric Steering Column Problem

My 2018 Seat Ateca with a gasoline engine (139369 km) has an issue with the electric steering column adjustment. There's an error stored in the error memory, and the steering column can no longer be adjusted electrically. Suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced something similar?

Electric steering issues can be a pain. When you say "defective", is there any assist at all, or is it completely manual? Have you checked the relevant fuses? Also, have you tried clearing the error memory to see if it returns immediately?

Steering is working, but there is no electric adjustment of the steering column anymore. Error returns immediately after clearing. Fuses are ok. Any further ideas?

Okay, if the steering itself is functional but the adjustment is dead and the error code returns instantly, your initial assessment of a wiring or connector problem at the steering column is likely correct. Given you've checked the basics, it's probably beyond a simple fix. Best bet is to have a workshop take a look at the wiring harness and connectors. They should be able to pinpoint the break or bad connection.

Confirmed. Cable and plug connection at the steering column were defective. Repair cost 95€. Thanks for your input.
