Seat Ateca engine running rough

Exhaust leaks, huh? Where exactly should I be looking? And could that really cause the check engine light and the jerking? The air filter is new, the spark plugs maybe have some miles on them, and I have never checked the crankshaft sensor.

Yes, an exhaust leak can definitely cause those symptoms. The engine management gets confused by the incorrect readings from the oxygen sensors. As for location, listen carefully around the exhaust manifold and along the exhaust pipes, especially at joints. If you're not mechanically inclined, it's probably best to get it checked by a professional. It could save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

Took it to the workshop and they found a leak in the exhaust system, just like you said! 265€ later and she's running smooth again. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Ateca, although I can't remember what mileage I was at. Check for exhaust leaks. When did you last change your air filter and spark plugs? Also, have you checked the crankshaft sensor? Those can cause weird running issues too.
