Seat Ateca rough running and stalling

I'm a bit stumped. My 2017 Seat Ateca with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. It has 127550 km on the clock. The engine runs rough, and it sometimes stalls at idle. The check engine light is on, and I also notice some jerking when accelerating. I've checked the basics, like fluids and filters, but nothing seems obviously wrong. Could it be something with the ignition system? Maybe a defective cable or plug connection?

Rough running and stalling could be a number of things. Is the check engine light illuminated? Any error codes? I had a similar issue with my Ateca a while back. Engine hesitation, especially when accelerating. Was it perhaps the ignition system?

Interesting. When you say ignition system, are you referring to the ignition coil specifically? If so, how did you diagnose that? What symptoms did you experience exactly?

Yes, the ignition coil was the culprit in my case. The symptoms were quite similar: engine hesitation, rough idle, and eventually the check engine light. I didn't have the equipment to properly diagnose it myself, so I took it to a workshop. They ran vehicle diagnostics and confirmed coil failure. I suggest you do the same.

It turned out to be a defective ignition coil. I had it replaced, along with the spark plugs, and the Ateca is running smoothly again. The cable to the coil looked a bit dodgy as well. The total cost was 95€, which isn't too bad. Thanks for the help.
