Since you've confirmed the sensor is good, and the error code probably points to the heating mat, replacing it seems like the right move. I'd suggest taking it to a shop for the heating repair.

Repair went as expected the defective heating element was replaced. Total cost was 390€.

Those symptoms do suggest a faulty heating element. Have you checked the thermal sensor? I had a similar problem with my old Volvo, but the whole seat had to come apart to get to the heating mat. Was the error code specific?
