Seat Cordoba Anti Theft Alarm Problem

My 2006 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The anti-theft alarm system isn't working and I'm getting an error in the memory. Mileage is at 93522 km. Is this a common problem?

I had a similar issue with my Seat, though it's an Ibiza. Was there a power failure or battery issue recently?

Battery was disconnected a while back for maintenance. Could that have messed up the car alarm settings?

Yes, disconnecting the battery can trigger that. It seems the anti-theft alarm defaulted to activating the optical locking, which caused the issue. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop.

Turns out the alarm system was coded to activate the optical locking. Recoding cost me 45€. Thanks for the help.
