Seat Cordoba Diesel Electronic Parking Brake Failure

Alright, I've got a 2000 Seat Cordoba diesel. The electronic parking brake has completely given up. Warning light's on, and there's an error stored in the memory. I'm suspecting the electric motor in the brake calliper is done for. Anyone else had this?

I had a similar parking brake issue on my Seat Ibiza. I think it's a common brake sensor problem across the brand. First thing, have you checked the brake control module for any system glitch? It might be a simple reset. Also, what's the error code you're seeing?

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the brake control module located? And could a faulty brake sensor really cause the whole parking brake to fail? I thought it would just trigger the warning light.

Yes, the faulty brake sensor can stop the complete parking brake functionality. On my Ibiza the module was near the handbrake lever, but I am not sure where it is in your Cordoba. If the error is still there after the reset you likely have a defective motor like me. I would suggest going to the workshop for brake diagnostics.

Thanks for confirming. I suspected as much. Local garage diagnosed a faulty electric motor in the brake calliper and quoted 505€ for the repair. A bit steep, but needs doing. Appreciate the help!
